From the cruise ship terminal on South Franklin Street in downtown Juneau, head northwest along the waterfront. South Franklin Street becomes Marine Way, then Egan Drive, named for William A. Egan (1914–84), first governor of the State of Alaska. Egan Drive becomes Glacier Highway at Milepost 9.4, then Juneau Veterans’ Memorial Highway from Milepost 12.1. At about 14 miles, exit west on Old Glacier Highway through Auke Village Recreation Area. Toward the end of the recreation area turn left on Pt. Louisa Road, and the campground entrance is on the left side of the road. |

The campground offers 11 overnight campsites for tent and RV camping. Site sizes vary and range from 14' to 35'. There is one central location that has a vault toilet, garbage cans, display board, and bear boxes. There are five drinking water spigots, a parking area for day use, and a dumpster. A trail starts at the parking lot that leads to the ocean and Pt. Louisa or to Auk Recreation Day Use area. |

Bears frequent the area; keep food in vehicles, bear-proof containers Campers are encouraged to bring their own firewood Gates open to vehicles at all times If vehicle or person maximums per site are exceeded, campers will be asked to move excess vehicles and equipment to an additional site, if available, and pay the additional fee. Campground reservations may be made the same day as arrival, if a site is available. Campground Stay Limits: An accumulative of 14 night’s total camping per calendar year, per person, between Mendenhall Lake and Auk Village Campgrounds. Commercial outfitters or guides not allowed Institutional outfitters (universities, schools and clubs) may require a special use permit before making reservations; contact campground manager at 907-789-6264 Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by purchasing firewood near your destination and burning it on-site.
